Processing Burnout to Deepen Resilience for Resistance
Gathering as covenanted colleagues, we will play and rest; sing and worship; explore and embody in service of deepening our ministries. Yes: rest and play is on the agenda!
The first day of our retreat will be spent with the work of Dr. Amelia Nagoski and her work, The Burnout Book: The Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle. In the afternoon and evening, there will be optional activities and free time for connection, grounding, and fellowship.
Building on the day before, the second day will be guided by our colleague, Julica Hermann de la Fuente, the UUMA Lifelong Learning Manager, who will lead us in spiritually-nourishing and emotionally-provocative exercises that move us into non-reactive, authentic engagement with each other, with systems of oppression and toward clarified forms of resistance.
Our exploration of preventing burnout includes experiential practice of letting go, winding down, building and rebuilding connections with colleagues and communing with the natural world.
- If you’re planning to bring children, registration options are included in the form on the next page. After your registration is complete, then our colleague Carolyn Patierno will contact you regarding housing and child care.
- Registration on the UUMA website, begins on December 15th and remains open until we are full. Priority registration is for New England UUMA members.
- Limited partial scholarships available through each chapter. Contact your Chapter Treasurer to request a scholsarhip and receive a code for a scholarship. To find your chapter's Treasurer, go to the UUMA Member Center to access your Chapter page that contains a list of your Chapter Leaders.
- This is an in-person retreat. The organizing team is working on making the keynote presentation available to UUMA members as a recording of the presentation by Dr. Nagoski available afterwards to UUMA members.
