Ballou Channing Chapter Retreat

Tuesday, May 7, 2024, 9am-5pm EDT

Cedar Hill Retreat Center, Duxbury, MA

Please register here no later than Wednesday May 1st. Please contact Emily Bruce (brucemily@gmail.com) if you have any questions.

The day’s programming will include worship, a presentation by guest speaker Traci Rae Hart (see description below), a business meeting, activities to nourish your soul and time for fellowship with colleagues. For those attending in person, that will include wandering Cedar Hill's 12-acre property (including private beach access). Evin Carvill-Ziemer and two other staff members from the New England Region will also be in attendance. We will provide space to meet and talk with them, as well as time and spaces without the presence of regional staff, if preferred.

From our presenter: Tools for Being More Present with Our Congregations

Tracy Rae Hart, LICSW, will teach practices to use as well as to share with your congregational members that will offer ways to decrease the intensity of uncomfortable and depleting emotions. The foundation of this offering is the well-known (but not always easily followed) idea that you, as the giver – the ministerial caretaker - must replenish yourself. These strategies include: EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique tapping); the Loving Kindness Meditation; spirit jar creation; guided relaxation meditation – systemic muscle release, followed by unburdening one’s heart’s troubles to the multiverse; visualizing a protection shield/bubble; and the gratitude/relinquishment alphabet exercise. This is an experiential offering that promises to leave you feeling refreshed!
